Augmented reality, IoT, IIoT,1 predictive maintenance, digital twins…. These smart manufacturing technologies are making companies more efficient and innovative, boosting their competitive advantage. Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, will be showcasing its latest innovations for industrial companies at Hannover Messe 2018. Driving the digital changes for industrial companies Corporate leaders everywhere are talking about the fourth industrial revolution, or smart manufacturing.

Given the accelerated move to digital technologies, smart manufacturing technologies offer a competitive advantage to every company and every geographical zone that adopts them. In a recent survey, Accenture states that a large majority of executives believe failure to leverage digital will cause their companies to struggle for survival. And, while many companies know the digitization trend is critical to their future, there is still the challenge of how to get started and recognize the benefits.

As the leader in powering and digitizing industry, Schneider Electric is uniquely positioned to drive the digital transformation of today’s growing industrial automation markets and assist industrial customers in their transformations. Major changes are fundamentally accelerating this movement in the industrial space. “First, industrial software is moving from a set of fragmented offerings based on specialized functions to integrated software deployed across an enterprise to drive broader efficiencies and performance improvement,” explains Peter Herweck, Executive Vice President, Industry Business at Schneider Electric.

This allows greater continuity, from design to build (Capex) to operation and maintenance (Opex), which creates new levels of efficiency throughout the asset and operations lifecycles. “Second, digital connectivity and a wealth of data is enabling new business models, such as software as a service, platform as a service, or even maintenance as a service which gives industrial companies an easy way to get started on their digitization journey,” continues Peter Herweck.

Digitization-driven advanced connectivity brings a major competitive advantage to industrial companies by allowing them to develop new relationships with their customers. At Hannover Messe 2018, from April 23 to 27, the Group will be demonstrating its strong leadership and deep expertise on major trends:

– End-to-End Integration Software – With EcoStruxure for Industry, Schneider Electric offers a true unified engineering approach that can be deployed across multiple industrial segments. Leveraging its unique partnership with AVEVA, it offers an unmatched set of solutions covering all aspects ofdigital asset management from process simulation to design, construction and manufacturing operations management and optimization.

– Ecosystem of Developers – Digitization of Schneider Electric’s strong installed base is an opportunity to developers to create new software applications. With more than 40 digital services, Schneider Electric is leading the way to power and digitize businesses and operations more efficiently.

– Open and Interoperable Technology – Schneider Electric, a member of the shapers group for OPC UA TSN is participating in 5 proof of concept collaborations at Hannover Messe in order to further a philosophy that an open architecture unlocks the full potential of the Industrial Internet of Things. By driving the next generation of unified communications from devices to the cloud, networks can be simplified and users can take advantage of off-the-shelf technology to lower integration and maintenance costs.

– Industrial IoT Services – Thanks to the new applications, the availability of data combined with domain expertise create new value for many throughout the industry.

At Hannover Messe, 2018, Schneider Electric will unveil EcoStruxure Machine Advisor to offer new level of efficiencies and growth by turning data into key insights for machine builders. EcoStruxure for Industry is Schneider Electric’s open, interoperable, IoT-enabled system architecture and platform. EcoStruxure delivers enhanced value around safety, reliability, efficiency, sustainability, and connectivity for our customers.
